Alexander Volkanovski and the Stance Shift | Film Study

A look at offensive opportunities from southpaw to orthodox.

Film Study is back! Today we are looking at Alexander Volkanovski and how he switches from southpaw to orthodox and vice versa to trap his opponents. In this video we look at Volkanovski’s retreats, his attacks and his counters off of the switch. We will look at examples from fights with The Korean Zombie, Yair Rodriguez, Islam Makhachev, and Brian Ortega.

The Fight Library is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Alexander Volkanovski is the current UFC featherweight champion and the second on the promotion’s pound for pound list. That said, he is also the most well rounded fighter we have ever seen. With five defenses of his title, Volkanovski has beat names like Jose Aldo, Max Holloway, Chad Mendes and The Korean Zombie.

Please enjoy this film study on Alexander Volkanovski. If you do, drop a sub and comment and tell me what other videos you would like to see done!
