How extreme can it get?
Bare knuckle MMA is nearly all the way.
As soon as Jorge Masvidal announced his Gamebred FC, a bare knuckle MMA promotion, my interest was piqued. Having been to several bare knuckle events, I wanted to see how no gloves changed the approach to MMA.

After going through the world of bare knuckle boxing for Fight Finders 003, my mind raced to a potential bare knuckle MMA episode. Knowing the lawlessness of the Mississippi athletic commission and seven of eleven events being in the nearby Biloxi, I was confident of my opportunity.
When Brandon Davis was announced to be the main event, I immediately reached out. American Top Team-D’Ibberville being his home gym, I was excited to see the insides of a very talented gym.
I’d hoped to capture another Kingmaking as I did with Ike Villanueva in the third episode. Instead, we got controversy. A grounded knee took Davis’ win away. One small mistake.
Bare knuckle MMA is violent. It’s brutal. Grounded knees aren’t that far of a stretch from the sport and are a heck of a lot cooler. But the loss wouldn’t be overturned despite even Jorge Masvidal himself saying that it was a bad look.
At the end of the day, Brandon Davis and Gamebred FC presented a new, and brutal, look into fistfights. Sure there’s Gromda and King of the Streets. But Gamebred was stateside and accessible. Watching live and documenting it was a pleasure and an honor.
