Draped in belts and calling for the missing Ring Magazine junior welterweight title he’d earned, Teofimo Lopez reminded everyone in Roy Jones Jr. fashion: Y’all must’ve forgot! While he didn’t say this out loud, his performance practically screamed it. On June, inside the Hulu Theater of the famed Madison Square Garden, Lopez put on a clinic against odds and media favorite Josh Taylor, the now-former Ring Magazine and WBO 140-pound champion.

The performance from Lopez (19-1, 13 KOs), who entered the bout as The Ring’s No. 9-rated junior welterweight, was a reminder of his southpaw-neutralizing abilities. We first witnessed this during Lopez’s inevitable clash with former pound-for-pound king Vasyl Lomachenko. Implemented against a bigger and stronger opponent, Lopez’ performance against Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) was the best of his career from a technical sense.
